Reed Blake

Design Engineer EIT

Reed Blake has been with Point of Beginning since 2021. Reed graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.

In his role with POB, he focuses on project design. He specializes in stormwater management, providing stormwater design, and permitting for athletic and design departments. He also coordinates all site permitting including general and individual wetland permits, municipal site plan review, stormwater and erosion control management, and exterior plumbing review.

Drilling Coordinator/ Senior Engineering Technician

Neil Henriksen has been with Point of Beginning since 2021. Neil graduated from Mid-State Technical College with an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering. In his role with POB, he oversees and coordinates drilling operations and along with Construction Material Testing.

Neil brings to the company 25 years of experience in Drilling and Drilling Coordination while working with Maxim Technologies and NTS. During this time, he has acquired DOT Certifications in Aggtech 1, PCC Tech 1, CST, and Nucdensity 1.

CAD Technician

Jacob Lang has been with Point of Beginning since 2019. He is currently pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids. Jacob will be supporting the Survey Division by developing computations for construction staking, topographic surveying drafting, 3D Modeling, legal/boundary work, general drafting and technical support.

Senior Design Technician

Geno Carlson has been with Point of Beginning since 2017 as a Project Manager & Senior Design Technician. Geno's role with POB entails designing & drafting construction plans, streamlining design procedures and integrating comprehensive drafting standards. Geno graduated from Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology, Moose Jaw, SK, with a degree in CADD technology and is certified in Autodesk Civil 3D, making him the perfect fit for our design team with his keen eye for drafting composition. Prior to POB, Geno designed and drafted for an engineering company in Medicine Hat, Alberta and toured the US & Europe as a professional musician.

Landscape Architect

Melissa Kluck has been with Point of Beginning since 2004 and serves as a Landscape Architect. She has performed an array of duties throughout the course of her 17+ year career in this field. Melissa has been responsible for coordinating with clients during the course of the entire project. She has completed concept plans, construction documents and landscaping plans for numerous commercial projects including retail centers, restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, and banks. She has also been involved in residential design including apartment layout and construction, public utility extensions, and subdivision layout and design. Melissa believes that a solid client relationship with good communication throughout the entirety of the project is essential to its success. Her areas of expertise include: Master Planning Development, Due Diligence/Property Research, Construction Document Preparation, Site Concept Planning, Landscaping Designs, and State and Local Permit Coordination.

Construction Administrator

Jim Ostrum has been with Point of Beginning since 2004. Jim earned his Associates Degree for Civil Engineering from Mid-State Technical College and is certified in material testing - AGGTEC-I, NUCDENSITYTEC-I, PCCTEC-I, On Track Safety, and CPR. Prior to POB, Jim worked for two different engineering firms here in Stevens Point for several years as a land surveyor. When Jim isn’t devoting his time to POB he enjoys hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and is a football and wrestling coach.

Project Engineer

Jesse Becker has been with Point of Beginning since 2015. Jesse has a Bachelors and Masters of Civil Engineering that he earned through Milwaukee’s School of Engineering. Jesse passed his FE exam for engineering and is now an EIT, Engineer in Training, at POB.

Hunter Groholski has been with Point of Beginning since 2008. Hunter has a background in Marketing and General Education from Mid-State Technical College and Madison College. He has earned certifications in CN Railroad Safety, NUCDENSITYTEC-I, and Concrete Aggregate.

Senior Material Technician

Ed Olszweski has been with Point of Beginning since 2012. Ed has an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design helping him with his roles at POB of testing materials for WisDOT projects, bidding and billing for all WisDOT projects, and managing the lab. His certifications are as follows: PCCTEC-1, AGGTEC-1, CST, TMS, and ACI PCC TEC1. Prior to POB Ed worked for 10+ years in the road and structure construction field giving him experience in bidding and expectations of contractors.
