Justin Haase has been with Point of Beginning since 2019. Justin is newly graduated from the University of Wisconson-Platteville with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Environmental Science. Justin has experience as an Engineering Aide for a local Municipality, which allowed him to understand how projects are conducted and constructed in the field. Justin’s tasks as an EIT will be assisting other Project Managers and Engineers on drawings of site layouts.

Dylan Schiltz

Dylan Schiltz

Project Engineer

Dylan Schiltz has been with Point of Beginning since 2019. Dylan graduated from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a Bachelor of Science – Civil Engineering. Prior to POB, Dylan had interned with the South Dakota Department of Transportation in the asphalt and concrete materials lab and at other firms as an inspector and a project coordinator. At POB, Dylan’s role includes assisting the Construction Engineering Division Project Leaders in making sure the project conforms to the specifications, running smoothly and tasks are accounted for. Dylan also assists the Design Engineering Division.

Originally from South Dakota, which is where most of his family is, Dylan tries to make it back as much as possible. He plays volleyball most of the year, really enjoys bowling, golfing and watching baseball/football. Along with sports, he is also an avid fisher, hunter, and outdoorsmen.

Project Engineer

Adam Sturgis has been with Point of Beginning since 2018. Adam interned for the WisDOT in the summer of 2017 and POB in the summer of 2018, gaining experience with quality assurance, inspection, and documentation of all construction activities, coordination, and observation. Adam graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville in December of 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree. His duties within POB will include construction oversight, design & surveying.

Ryan Erdmann

Ryan Erdmann

Project Manager

Ryan Erdmann joined Point of Beginning in 2018 as a Project Engineer & Manager. Ryan grew up in Crandon, Wisconsin and started his undergraduate career at Nicolet Area Technical College, later transferring to Michigan Technological University and graduating with a Bachelor of Science - Civil Engineering in 2006. While attending MTU, he completed a summer internship and a summer internship/fall co-op working for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.  After graduation, Ryan spent several years in the Duluth/Superior area working on aviation projects and then moved on to a firm in the Green Bay area, working on Transportation projects in both construction and design.

Throughout Ryan’s career he’s worked on a wide range of projects from aviation related navigation aids, runway/taxiway/apron project, to $70 million dollar terminal and terminal parking projects to transportation related urban reconstruction, structure replacement, and highway rehabilitation projects.

Ryan holds licenses as a Professional Engineering in both Wisconsin and Minnesota and is certified to test asphalt, concrete, and aggregate.

In his spare time, Ryan enjoys bird hunting with his German Shorthaired Pointer, bowling, home projects with friends and the occasional basketball game. Aside from those hobbies, Ryan is a family man to his wife (Becky) and two kids (Emmalyn – 3, and Easton – 1.5).

Andrew Geffert

Andrew Geffert

Environmental Scientist

Andrew Geffert has been with Point of Beginning since 2017 as a Project Manager & Environmental Scientist. Andrew has extensive experience in stormwater management, permitting and designing, in Wisconsin, Vermont and New Hampshire. Wetland Delineations are also part of the experience that Andrew brings to POB. He has been delineating wetlands since early in his career, 1996, and is certified as an Assured Delineator in New Hampshire and currently working towards becoming an Assured Delineator in Wisconsin. As an experienced Project Manager, Andrew provides as the primary point of contact for clients from fielding initial phone inquiries to the final completion of the project. His expertise includes: Project Management, Storm Water , AutoCAD Drafting, Site Planning, Agency Coordination, Wetland Determination / Delineation, Wetland Alternatives Analysis (For Permitting), Artificial Wetland Exemption Requests, Regulatory Permitting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan amd Nonmetallic Mining Services (Gravel Pit Permitting).

Geno Carlson

Geno Carlson

Senior Design Technician

Geno Carlson has been with Point of Beginning since 2017 as a Project Manager & Senior Design Technician. Geno's role with POB entails designing & drafting construction plans, streamlining design procedures and integrating comprehensive drafting standards. Geno graduated from Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology, Moose Jaw, SK, with a degree in CADD technology and is certified in Autodesk Civil 3D, making him the perfect fit for our design team with his keen eye for drafting composition. Prior to POB, Geno designed and drafted for an engineering company in Medicine Hat, Alberta and toured the US & Europe as a professional musician.

Tyler Klos has been with Point of Beginning since 2017. Tyler earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Madison – Wisconsin. Tyler has obtained his Fundamentals of Engineering certificate and is now working towards becoming a Project Engineer and taking his Practices of Engineering examination. While in college, Tyler worked as a Water Resource Specialist at FreshWater Engineering with strengths in HydroCAD, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, QCIS, RETScreen, HEC-RAS, and Survey.

Steve LaRose has been with Point of Beginning since 2015. Steve's roles with POB are conducting topographic surveys, property surveys, and highway surveys. Steve earned his Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Highway Development through Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and worked for the Stevens Point Parks Department. His certification is as follows: PCCTEC-1.

Rich Riggs has been with Point of Beginning since 2008 as the Athletic Field Project Site Consultant. Rich earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Resource Management from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Rich has over 40+ years of experience in the green industry, specializing in Athletic Fields. His key areas are Design, Construction, and Maintenance Programs of all levels of fields including professional, college, and high schools.

Melissa Kluck

Melissa Kluck

Landscape Architect

Melissa Kluck has been with Point of Beginning since 2004 and serves as a Landscape Architect. She has performed an array of duties throughout the course of her 17+ year career in this field. Melissa has been responsible for coordinating with clients during the course of the entire project. She has completed concept plans, construction documents and landscaping plans for numerous commercial projects including retail centers, restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, and banks. She has also been involved in residential design including apartment layout and construction, public utility extensions, and subdivision layout and design. Melissa believes that a solid client relationship with good communication throughout the entirety of the project is essential to its success. Her areas of expertise include: Master Planning Development, Due Diligence/Property Research, Construction Document Preparation, Site Concept Planning, Landscaping Designs, and State and Local Permit Coordination.
